How VeriSyght Works

VeriSyght helps you assess image credibility by analyzing metadata, searching for previous appearances online, and detecting manipulation signals.

What VeriSyght Checks

πŸ“Έ Image Metadata (EXIF)

We extract technical data embedded in images: camera model, software used, date taken, and location (if present). Missing metadata can indicate screenshots, social media posts, or potential manipulation.

πŸ” Reverse Image Search

We search the web to find where else this image appears. If it's on credible news sites, that increases confidence. If it's nowhere to be found, it may be AI-generated or very new content.

πŸ€– AI Generation Detection

We look for software tags from AI image generators (Midjourney, DALL-E, Stable Diffusion) and patterns consistent with synthetic images.

πŸ“± Screenshot Detection

Screenshots from social media (TikTok, Instagram, Twitter) naturally have no camera metadata. We detect these and adjust our analysis accordingly.

Understanding Risk Levels

πŸ”΄ High Risk

Strong warning signs detected: AI software tags, no credible sources found, or suspicious metadata patterns. Do not share without verification.

🟑 Medium Risk

Mixed signals detected. The image may be real but edited, or context may be misleading. Verify before sharing.

🟒 Low Risk

Few warning signs. Image appears relatively credible, but verification is still recommended for important claims.

How to Use VeriSyght Results

βœ… Best Practices

  1. Use VeriSyght as a starting point, not final answer
  2. Check the original source when possible
  3. Look at when and where the image first appeared
  4. Verify the account or website that posted it
  5. Cross-reference with credible news sources
  6. Be skeptical of images that confirm your biases

Common Scenarios Explained

Why does a screenshot have "Low Risk" instead of no risk?

Screenshots are common for legitimate content, but they can also hide manipulation. Our "Low Risk" rating means the image itself has few warning signs, but you should still verify: Who posted it? When? Does the account seem legitimate?

Why is my real photo marked "Medium Risk"?

If your photo has editing software tags (Photoshop, Lightroom) or hasn't been published online yet, our system may flag it for review. This doesn't mean it's fakeβ€”just that it has signals requiring verification.

Why does an old photo show "Low Risk"?

If we find the image on credible news sites, we reduce the risk score. However, remember: a real photo from 2019 can still be used with false 2024 context. Always check when and why the image is being shared now.

Can AI-generated images slip through?

Yes. Some AI generators strip telltale metadata, and sophisticated AI art can be hard to detect. We're constantly improving our detection, but no system is perfect. Always combine multiple verification methods.

Privacy & Data

Uploaded images are stored temporarily for analysis and result display only.

We delete images older than 30 days automatically while keeping the analysis results for improvement.

We do not sell your data, train AI models on your uploads, or share your images with third parties.
